It’s a style of dance known all around the world, characterised by its passion, eccentricity and unique flair that is simply unlike anything else. At Latin Motion, our Bachata classes offer a genuine experience that fills the room with personality and vibrancy with every move. Taught by world renowned Latin Dancers who are passionate about helping people become active, connected and happy, we have been watching our students walk into our Sydney CBD studio and dance out for over 20 years, making great friends and great memories along the way!

The history behind Bachata

Originating in the Dominican Republic, this style of Latin Dance is often defined by the sultry, mesmerising movement of hips to the beat of beautiful music. As you will learn in our Bachata lessons, the dance primarily focuses on three steps in combination with a hip movement and a ‘tap’ on every fourth beat. These moves were, and still are, heavily influenced by emotions such as heartbreak or romance, which is why the style is so often described as passionate or heartfelt. When you watch a Bachata dance, you are often witnessing the most intense of human emotions being turned into movement.
